picked up this planchet this week. my brother found it at work, in the till. it's 13.2 grams, ~32mm in diameter. does not appear to be silver, also, no visible copper core, looks to be nickel, not magnetic. thicker than half dollar by about half a millimeter. any ideas what this might have been intended for? Smaller and lighter than casino slug.

I don't think junk would have such a nicely upset rim.
It could be anything from a private strike to a foreign coin planchet.

If it's not magnetic, then it's not nickel.

Pure nickel is magnetic, yes but nickel alloys such as the US nickel composition is not.
