I just want some opinions. We have been searching Lincoln's the past month and are now finished with 500 rolls. We have an additional 260$ in quarters, dimes and nickels to take to the bank. This gives us around 500$ total to play with, what are the thoughts on what we should get today. Our bank has been great and have already called them on bringing in today. They have stockpiled a lot of coins since the county fair is in town this weekend. Please let us know what you think we should get today. Thanks.

Nickels are always fun. I primarily search nickels and cents, dimes on occasion and halfs when I want to feel supreme disappointment.

Jedichef, That is actually what I was thinking, with more cents and nickels. I have had ZERO luck on Halves plus our banks don't stock them anyway. I thought about quarters, but in around 100 rolls, I've found ONE 1961p and just a few BU's. I'm just needing a break on small coins to give my eyes a few weeks break,LOL. Have you had any luck with dimes, we have not?

I agree jedichef nickels are really fun! Always find quite a few pre-60's in there, and I am averaging about one silver nickel/box. I have also found three proofs, seven buffalos, one liberty, and countless foreign coins...all in just 19 boxes!

Ancientcoinguy, your doing great on nickels. We gone through over 300 rolls and have NEVER found one silver, we found around 6 rolls of pre 60, even 5 1950D's which we were thrilled with. Maybe we'll just stay with cents and nickels. Our bank doesn't stock many Halves and they said they would have to charge us per roll to order them. I also haven't had any luck with dimes, just a few silver's in 400 to 500 rolls. With that type of luck my wife says I'd be much better off working on the house so I'll stick with something I can show her some success on, LOL. Thanks for the inputs. Does anyone else here have their bank charging for boxes? For us it is only on the Halves and then they started it with quarters in the summer.

It depends on what your goal is.
Are you trying to complete your albums? Are you hoarding copper? Trying to get rich finding silver?

My luck with dimes has definitely gone south in the last year or so. I used to pull 2 dimes for every three boxes or so. Now , nothing. I have to order boxes of halves from my bank (wells fargo), they dont charge me, but they've all been skunks. I've not tried quarters yet. I still pull silver nickels and buffaloes occasionally, but I'm mainly looking for 39d/50d to finish my set from circulation. Cents are still fun for me but i'd like to get some boxes from the east coast, maybe then i'll have an actual shot at pulling a CAM/WAM for once.

We've been working on albums out of circulation for around 10 years. My wife kept track of rolls till 2009. We searched 1185 quarter rolls, 2250 dime rolls. We just stopped finding anything pre 1965 around 3 years ago. I remember even 5 years ago I'd get 1 or 2 silvers every hundred coins, nothing now. We completed about half of the Wash. Quarter and Roosie albmu, but have not found a one pre 1965 in 3 years now. We concentrated on cents the last few years and have done well from the "copper" standpoint. But yes, wouldn't mind "getting rich" finding silver but it's still fund searching the cents. Here at least (North Florida) that's what we get. I've read all the topics on the different searches. We just started on CCF a few weeks ago and love it. There is much more knowledge here than any coin store near us. I guess my goal is just to keep searching, I was just wondering what everyone seems to think. We'll stick with Cents and Nickels. Thanks for the responses.

Nickels are best as far as actually finding something of value. I have not had a single box without at least 1 War Nickel. I get BU slidder 82Ps and 83Ps that are sellable. The occasional VF/XF better date pre 60. I haven't personally found a 39D or a 50D, but other have. Dimes, I get 1 silver per box, that's it, and nothing interesting and they're hard to read. Quarters, never any silver, only fun if you are putting together the national park circulation set (or I suppose still working on the State Quarters) Halves, I just don't get it. I still read stories on here about people in some parts of the country finding 1 or 2 64s plus 5-6 40% per box. Halves completely dried up here like 10 years ago, seriously. So I guess that depends on where you live. My vote is nickels

We just got back from the bank and now have hundreds of cent and nickel rolls. A few of the cent boxes are "brinks" which will be the first time I've ever had or opened up any of these. We had help in bringing it to the car, my wife thinks I've completely lost my mind. Have any of you been griped at for searching? I'll post the finds on the "Lincoln Roll Searching" and "Nickel Searching" posts as we go through them. Now the fun begins. Thanks again for the input.
