It may have been once.
I was looking at some (nice) that just finished on ebay and was surprised at how much a 1938 fetched. 1937 looked quite a reasonable price.

1938 Crowns are a lower mintage and normally command 3 times the value of a simillar garde 1937 crown
Rest in Peace

I'd say that's too much chatter for an EF...gVF perhaps?

Not much ridge on the big orbs and a heck of a lot of scraches/Circulation marks.
Some of these are prone to bad strikes but this one just dosn't make it to EF. vf to aVf at best.
I have a few of these and this one in my opinion is a quite ordanary specimin.
There are a heap of realy good ones out there at the moment so don't listen to the hype and study the pics/scans and work it out from there

Alright, the original I would grade as MS-15 (gFINE) definately not EF as stated due to the bad scratches. Now the above coin I would grade as MS-40 (aEF). It's unfortunate that is does have some marks on the kings head.
