I bought this coin and a few more Australian coins unseen. Trusted the dude his grading.. When I received the coins, I was a bit disappointed. Of course my fault to trust him.. and don't asked him for a scan or photo.. This 1922 Penny got a high grade from him.. Now I'm a bit of a greenhorn on Australian coins.. but the portrait show wear I think.. and maybe cleaned? How do you "specialist" grade this one?

A second question is how can I see where this one is minted?

This a two graded coin. Obv. VG, Rev. nearly F. These coins were minted in Perth and Melbourne but there are no mint marks to distinguish them. 13,150,000 were struck.

The catalogue value for this coin is listed at VG AUD 50 cents, Fine $5.00.

In Very Fine, it catalogues at AUD $45.

first thing with KGV is to count the pearls on the band at the base of his Crown ...

the "two-grades" that Sel refers to is common with Australian pre-decimals. Perhaps because the reverse design is much simpler, and therefore more robust in circulation.
