Any code monkeys out here (like me)? Anyone here who has some time and a decent amount of experience working with SQL databases and programming who would like to assist me in coming up with a completely new version of coppercoins.com, I would be more than happy to hear from you.

Please reply here or email me directly.

Thank you!

What could you offer that coppercoins.com doesn't?
What can you do better than coppercoins.com?

Edit: Sorry, didn't notice who was posting.
Does coppercoins.com really need a complete overhaul?

rickmp - Thanks for taking one for the team. I like the front. I'm sure you figured out that I AM coppercoins. ;O)

The data is not properly put together, the site is built on amateur code, and I want to overhaul it. I built the current version of the site so long ago, just looking at the code now gives me a headache. I went all kinds of ways out of the way to get the code I knew at the time to do what it does, and I could do the whole thing now with less than a third the code it took back then.

Moreover what I want to do now is expand. I have some ideas for some good features - modules - that would help collectors out a lot, and I want to incorporate them. Problem is, the data and the code base that's there now is so unfriendly and unscalable - I wouldn't even want to attempt it.

So I'm looking for a couple of good people to run some plans by so they can use their experience and knowledge to help me figure out whether what I want to do is being done right. I want to be sure that what I have in my head will work once the design is complete and code begins. I also want someone who can help build the code.

I am sure there will be other parts that die variety collectors out there would love to be a part of if they have a little time on their hands...data entry stuff. The sort of stuff that doesn't take an egg head to understand. I have over a hundred price guides from different time periods that I want entered into Excel, for instance. I would like to be able to use that information to develop some history charts and pricing data for my book and the site.

Anyone who wants to help, I will include them in the group. I hope that with the help of some of my collecting friends we can together make coppercoins the site I envision - MUCH more friendly to the public, MUCH easier to navigate, with a LOT more information.

I would love to help with such an endeavor, but since I am currently up to my eyeballs in PHP/MySQL projects (personal, professional and grant-related) at the moment, I would only be available to help with some occasional consulting. In any case, if you hit a snag, don't hesitate to give me a poke. :-)
