This weekend I completed my first set since I stopped collecting during high school in the mid 70's. I started collecting again last fall. I did complete the Jefferson nickels back when I was a kid. Now that Jefferson collection has a bunch of holes...

I started the Franklin collection in the late 60's with halves my dad gave me. He had been setting aside silver coins from circulation. It is a miss matched grade collection because I filled the many holes I had with AU or uncirculated coins. Since I have no desire to replace the coins my dad gave me, I will not be improving this set.

Next set to finish will be the Lincoln wheats. Just need the 09 S VDB which I hope to have in the next few months. Mercury dimes will be next, missing about a dozen of them.

Appreciate the guidance I have received from the CCF.

Mark

Congrats on completing the set. That's awesome you have coins from your dad in the set. Is the '55 a Bugs Bunny?

The story is very similar to my set, started in the sixties with circulated pieces and finished off with au to proof. Congratulations, and good luck with your Mercury dime set.

Nice! I think I'll start one of those. My local bullion shop always has plenty of those in the junk silver bin, and I think I already have a few of 'em.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Very nice indeed. I would not expect anyone to replace coins given to them by their father. Or any other family member for that matter.

The wife, VACookey, is working on her Franky set and is jealous.

Congratulations!

I love looking at a good Franklin half dollar set. This was the second series that I completed (after my beloved Eisenhower dollars).

I may end up doing likewise as I stack bullion when the silver market is cooled to the sub-30 range and I have the spare cash. I picked up 2 of the 35 already.

Ben Franklin is the MAN!

Looks good. I would do it the same way, and keep the keep the ones that your father gave you.
