Vatican Coin? | 100 Lire 1983 - Coin Community Forum

mmhoel New Member United States 6 Posts	Posted 07/27/2012 1:58 pm Working in a cash office/as a cashier I came across this, slightly larger than a quarter, in near mint condition coin. It is some type of Vatican coin, but I was wondering if it is currency or not? And if so, what the value might be. Identified - moved to World Coins forum - Sap Report this Post to the Staff

weavus135 Pillar of the Community United States 539 Posts	Posted 07/27/2012 2:31 pm it is indeed a Vatican City coin. Krause catalog KM173. It is a 100 Lire coin, dated 1983 (see the roman numerals). I think it is still valid currency in the Vatican. it has a catalog value of $1.50 (or so) in XF condition. made of stainless steel Report this Post to the Staff

chrisild Pillar of the Community Germany 1238 Posts	Posted 07/29/2012 05:24 am If the Vatican has the same redemption policy and deadlines as Italy (which I assume), that coin became "worthless" on 7 Dec 2011.
