It it helps, I just got one in a tad better shape and from 1899 (no mark) on ebay and I spent 8 including shipping. |

If there is an O or no mintmark on the back side below the eagle, then it's worth silver value; about $5
If there is an S mintmark, then it is worth perhaps a bit more.

Looks to me like a Barber thats worth melt or maybe a little more

I have looked through bargain boxes of Barber coins and I have yet to find a coin as nice as yours. Please, a pic of the reverse. A tad more than melt is my opinion. But not much. |

sanjay, if there is any way please save this coin from the melting pot!
It is a good, but very nice for the grade. That means that many other good
coins from 1892 are as nice looking as this. Actually most that I
have seen.
I cannot give you numbers but I can give you the probable scenario:
If you present this coin as a "junk" piece you will receive melt less maybe 10 percent.
Your buyer will then turn around, put it into a 2X2 cardboard holder, and offer it for melt plus 20 percent.
If I found this in a "junk" box I would buy it in a minute.

the grade would be G-4 most likely still a nice coin hold on to it, you have nothing to lose

For a well worn Barber it is remarkably free of the damage these typically have such as scratches, dings, and a harsh cleaning. A very presentable coin and definitely a keeper. Ed ANA LM-3175 |

These coins in good do not get any better,
And a beginning collector of these quarters, one who has smarts,
would pay a small premium over the asking bid price for this piece.
