I bought this coin because I really like the detail of the emperors bust, too bad the reverse isn't as nice.

The flan is in good shape as well. Many coins during this era were poorly crafted.

That's definitely a nice coin.

The coins from the Gallic Emperors are normally like the OP coin. One side good and the other needful. I own one Victorinus with both sides equal. The rest are much like this coin. Good bust though for sure.

Sharp looking coin, echizento!! ...

I don't own a Victorinus, yet ... what was Victorinus' story? (did he have any interesting good scandal or tidbits?)

Marcus Piavonius Victorinus was emperor of the secessionist Gallic Empire from 269 to 271, following the brief reign of Marius. He was murdered by a jealous husband whose wife he tried to seduce.

... hmmmm? ... he was a bit of a player

very cool coin.

i'd be surprised to find and emperor that wasn't a player, I'm not going to even mention the type of stuff I would do if I were emperor.

wife of mine, if you read this post on the puter, what I mean is I would start an orphanage, expand the road system, and upgrade the aqueducts.

Perhaps because of the crisis at the time of Victorinus they were forced to use the coins dies longer than they would have liked. I find it odd that just a few years before there are so many nicely struck coins of Postumus.

Nice addition echizento...my only coin from the Gallic Empire is a pretty rough Tetricus I.
