I have always been a "sucker" for green patina on copper and bronze ancient coins. Please post some photos of your own examples of patina. I will start it off with this Claudius Sestertius:

I apologize for not giving the RIC citation - I am feeling too lazy to dig out my RIC - besides I have been out celebrating my 83rd birthday this evening!

Wow congratulations and respect for being 83 (I have always liked talking to older people about the old days and history, particularly with ones who remember the war)

Personally not such a big fan of the green ones but no doubt I will aquire the taste in time :)

Edit: I was not being fair posting the off-topic URL - It should have been a PM (which I will now send).

Happy birthday James - many happy returns

Cheating a bit with this one as I posted it earlier tonight in another thread but it does have a very nice green patina. I only have pictures of a few of my coins atm so will add more tomorrow as its late here.

Happy Birthday my friend. I should buy me a coin in honor of your birthday. Seems like a good idea to me. My 63d is in a couple of weeks. You can buy yourself a coin to honor my birthday.

Anyway, I have many coins with green patina and many more with brown patina. I have a few with desert patina, but of course that is not real patina in the strictest sense. So I will post only a couple of the ones I like.

Copper coins with an attractive green patina should be kept well away from albums that have PVC album pages.
It is my opinion that they will turn black over a number of years.

I agree, an even green patina is most attractive on large ancient copper coins in superior condition.
