while I was working the till at my work today some kid comes in with a bunch of coins and asks to change all this for a five dollar bill any ways after about 4-5 minute of counting all the coins and opening the register I notices that some of nickels have king George the 6th reveres on them so I quickly change them with some spare nickels in my pocket. later when I am at home ii notice that these nickels have dots or maple leaf next to them so I come to you my fellow coin hunters to ask did I strike it good or is this a find to just roll up

The 1937 nickels all have period next to the date to "balance the design" 5 million minted.
The 1947 maple leaf was minted in 1948 marked with a maple leaf to identify it from other 1947's. 1948 dies weren't available at time of minting. 10 million maples compared to 8 million non maples and 2 million 1948's.
Good coins to have for a change for a bill transaction.

Check the '47s to see if any have dots rather than leafs.
