Their value for silver content right now is $25, so I should ask a little more?

$30?

$35?

$40?

Depends how you want to sell them

-Coin Dealer: Quick, money on the spot, no hassle (hopefully), but you'l most likely receive less than 25/piece because of this 'no work' process
-eBay: Take time, piece them out, get $28-30/piece, but then you have to pay fees. You're also going to want to have an account that has feedback and one that is connected to PayPal
-craigslist (if it applies to you): Just be safe to not give out personal information, and what I do is use a "fake" e-mail address, one that I created just to be used for craigslist

Good luck!

My advice would be hold on to them a bit longer. Silver has been suppressed for a while, and all things point to silver increasing. There are a few websites that list live silver prices. Over the past few weeks, silver has increased over $4.00/ounce.

For the person saying to ask $40, why? Why so much more than others are saying?

a shrewd seller perhaps. They are not likely to bring that much. Common circulated Peace dollars are worth about $30 retail. Morgans about $35.

I had the silver dollars on craigslist without a price, and was getting way-too-much response. I change it to $30 and $35 each, and have had no replies.

Honestly, I would throw them all up on ebay individually. You'd be surprised at what some people would pay. They do look to be in decent condition.

I bought several at a dealer last week for $26 each, about the same grade, maybe a bit less.

I followed the advice given here, I thought, and priced the silver dollars @ $30 and $35. That put an end to all replies from craigslist.

Well, all except for this:

"I will say good luck to you then. They are not silver eagles. Circulated 90% silver coins to not fetch a premium price to the ounce of silver. The morgans are lighter coins and the Peace dollars you might could get the value of the ounce to the right person. It sounds like you are greedy and don't know much about this."

Ouch!

$30 to $35 each is a reasonable opening offer to sell. Bottom-feeders looking to make a quick buck will offer much less and "good" buyers might offer you a little less. Decide what you will accept at a minimum and stick with it, with no apologies.

A regular coin dealer will be happy to offer something and you can take that as the price floor. If you don't get what you require just hold onto them. If the price of silver goes up so will the offers. Good luck!

The person that sent you that response doesn't respect coins for the hobby, but rather stacks silver, no matter the form.

Personally I don't think you should be asking $35 and $30 for the Morgans and Peace dollars, respectively. Selling them on ebay will only fetch $30-$32 if you pay for shipping. You will receive a little bit more if you offer free shipping, but it usually works out to be the same.

Craigslist always has lower prices than ebay because there are no fees involved, and usually no shipping. If you can sell the lot for $30/piece, I would say go for it. Really, I don't see that even happening. Most of them sell their coins for roughly $30, and you can find common date AU's and even MS's for that price.

Try for $30 on craigslist and if anyone makes a decent offer, take it. I honestly believe that is your best bet.

JLB: Don't worry about the Craigslist smack-down. The response said, "...Circulated 90% silver coins...". Undamaged U.S. silver dollars are not considered 90% silver, they are a separate category altogether.

2 weeks ago, I sold a group of circulated Peace dollars on ebay for $30/each and silver was $3/oz lower than it is now!

As I've said, I came here because I was innundated by cl replies when I did not post an asking price. I selected $35 and $30 because that appeared to be the preponderance here, and because silver had gone up $3.

I guess I accomplished what I set out to do, set a price, and if someone does not want to counter it, so be it.

Since it's free, other than the annoyance of personal criticism from strangers looking to make a buck off of others, oh well.

JLB - Welcome to the world of trying to sell coins. Coins are easy to buy but much more difficult to sell. Human nature says we want full retail prices for our collections when we sell but that is usually not reality. Depending on what's in a collection, wholesale prices are normally about 75%-90% of retail... sometimes less. Morgan and Peace dollars are a commodity and should easily sell at $25-$26 in VG-XF condition... they can be purchased at about $29-$30.
