I just bought some group of coins for $230 and I think it turned out to be a pretty good deal. I got 101 silver dimes and a 3 cent nickel piece. The 3 cent nickel is labeled ms 63 but I don't know if it's right or not. It definitely looks like it hasn't been circulated, and it has full vertical lines on the reverse. Love it.

Here's what I got:

1865 3 cent nickel

Mercury dimes:
1919 cleaned
1935 polished
1936
1938
1939
1939 d
1940
1941    (x2)
1941 d
1941 s (x2) one is MS
1942    (x2)
1942 d (x3)
1942 s (x4)
1943    (x3)
1943 d
1944    (x2)
1944 s
1945    (x2)

Roosevelt dimes:
1946    (x2)
1946 d
1947    (x2)
1947 s    MS
1948
1948 d
1949
1951
1952
1953
1953 d (x2)
1954    (x2)
1956
1957
1958 proof
1958        MS
1958 d (x3)
1959
1959 d
1960 proof
1960
1960 d (x5)
1961
1961 d (x2)
1962 d (x6)
1963    (x2)
1963 d (x7)
1964    (x14)
1964 d (x7)

Quite a few 1960's roosevelts were MS as well, but it's not a big deal.

Well my phone never does coins any justice :( definitely not a ms63, but it is awesome for a free bonus coin. It is going into my 7070. And the photo doesn't show the luster it still has. The reverse just looks awesome in hand!

I'm reselling the dimes to get my money back, I'm just going to keep all the ones I need and all of the mercs. I'm going to switch them out for a bunch of 1964's I have from roll searching :)

VERY good deal. Great snag. The 3 cent was struck slightly off center as well.

Well struck 3CN. I don't know much about the strike characteristics of that certain date, but I do know the majority of 3CN business strikes are weak at the III. Nice!

yeah I really wish I had good photo taking abilities. I sold a 3 cent nickel on ebay for more than I bought it. The person who bought it said the coin looked way better in person. I could make more money on ebay with better photos :/

All well.

But yeah, so in the end I get to keep 6 silver dimes and the 3 cent nickel and sell the rest to get my money back. Plus I'm swapping out all of my roll search duplicates to keep everything good. pretty happy with this seller. I have bought from him previously and was really happy the first time.

If you are looking to sell them, consider getting a used album and putting them in there. People eat that stuff up for some reason.

Sound like a great deal. $250 in melt value for the dimes alone and a very nice Three Cent Nickel! A few of those Mercs look to be uncirculated or at least high AU.

Nice score! That three-center makes me want to own one . . . just lovely. (And dimes are such useful little coins, I love them so much even when they're not-really-collectable circulated moderns.)

Murellington, may I make a suggestion? Pick yourself up an Olympus camera--you can get a decent one brand-new for under two hundred bucks and it'll do everything but your dishes. I made a "studio" for my coins by lining an old, clean candleholder with white paper and resting my camera on top set on super-macro mode, then using a square of white paper in the holder to colour-correct on the computer--if you've ever seen any of my photos, that's how just about all of them were taken. If you're selling stuff that's worth a nice chunk of change, the camera will pay for itself--the pictures you get will be HUGE, which aids in singling out nice details (e.g., full steps on a Jefferson nickel, mintmarks, die doubling, etc.--I've even taken pictures of some of my 19-teens Lincolns with blurry mintmarks to identify them), and once you have the details you want the picture can be scaled down in a program like GIMP.

ninamason- How much would a camera like that approx cost? Do you have any examples of pictures you took, and how much was your camera?

And yeah I really want a camera. to help sell coins easier, but also because I like to have an album on my computer with pictures of all of my coins. They just look bad right now.
