I purchased $20 in nickels from RBC.
In my second last roll, all the nickes were pre-1968. They had at least 85% of lustre on them, but I just rolled them up for melt value. The all have certain wear and their grades couldn't go more than AU 55. I also came across one 1938 and one 1940 nickel at average circulated condition of more than 30 or 35.
However, on my final roll today, every coin turned out to be fresh 1967 centennial nickels. There are scratches but no wear. It is pity that the customer only rolled 37 in that roll instead of 40.
Here's my curiosity. The coins seem to have a frosted finish. Could someone pleasepost an example of proof-like finish? This turns out to be the same with my only roll of War of 1812 toonies. They all seem to have a frosted finish and different with other uncirculated examples.
I might post pictures later.
I didn't find any 1965 large beads variety. I am still learning about bugtail nickels, so I can't say anything about that.
Thanks!

I definately overgraded my coins. These coins could not surpass the grade of 20 or 25, in my opinion.

@dialog gvf and others. The "melt" value of nickels is 8 cents. There are places to sell them for 8 cents each in person, not ebay.

How would you know if the 1967 nickel is proof-like or uncirculated? Or even proof?
Pictures (not clear. if you have a link or explanation, about prooflike 1967 nickels, please post it.)
Thanks!
And thanks for mentioning about the fact that one could sell oure nickels.

The PL might have sharper rims. Not 100% sure without checking some I have.

I sell nickels for melt value to a coin dealer. The dealer has a coin silver gold jewelry store buying and selling. The coins are not melted. They can be dug through and bought for 25 cents each or more.

What about proof? I have seen some pictures of proof on Google and some are really similar to my nickels.

I guess I'll just attempt to find another three UNC and roll them up and store them for another few decades for a higher value.
