Quote: Is the V nickel considered a Barber? Unofficially, yes, since he designed it. Also, they were issued around the same time, 1888-1913 for the V nickel and 1892-1915/1916 for the other Barber coins (1915 for the half dollar).

Only two in 41 years? I suppose that is better than my big fat ZERO in 34 years!

I've found a grand total of six in who-knows-how-many boxes over the years, the oldest being 1892 (twice).

I found an 05' Indian (VG8-F12)in the coin reject tray of the coin counter at my local bank last week. In 2016 I got a damaged 1864 in the same tray. (Suspect that may be a record of sorts...not many US coins in circulation for 152 years...EVER!) My niece works as a cashier and got me an 86'Indian with barely legible date last year. These are the only Indians I've seen in circulation since the late 1950s .

I have found 1 and it was in great condition. I have searched probably at least 100 boxes and $50 dollar bags of them.

Wow! It sounds like it is tough to find an Indian Head.

Well, I guess the 1882 I found yesterday along with 5 others are a rarity? The last I pulled from circulation was last year.
