Could I receive assistance in the form of judgment of whether this 1974 Washington quarter, with accompanying photos, is a double die? I am looking in particular in the vertical areas to the right of the "L" and "I" in "Liberty." Thank you *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Your second photo seemed to have some indications of a die break, but to me it could also be a nick on the coin. However in you third photo the nick seemed to move from between the L and I to in front of the L. So right now I am not seeing any diebreak.
Hopefully, someone else can tell you differently. Now I am confused. Sorry.

I'd say it's Machine Doubling when the die shifts during the strike, but I could always be wrong. No added value.

To me it looks doubled, but I'm not the error/variety enthusiast either.

Thanks for all the input. Your contributions, along with the vast array of past postings at Coin Community Forum, have provided an enormous wealth of information to me as I sort through a collector/hoard left by a family member.

I agree with coinfrog its Machine Doubling ( not a doubled die) the correct terminology is "doubled" not "double" LOOK AT THE FLAT SHELF LIKE APPEARANCE. no added premium

On the last image the 'LIB' might be showing shadow from the light on the 'LI'? If not, then it is MD.
