I've had this penny for a long time, I think I picked it up from a small coin shop in Toronto some 25 years ago now. I've always loved it because it is in such nice condition and the Victoria bust is so beautiful. I would love to know more about it from more seasoned Canadian collectors.
I'm not sure what you are looking for. Yours is a nice, maybe VF-20, Victoria large cent. It was struck somewhere toward the end of the minting year, judging by the width of the vine gap at leaf 7 and the large gap at leaf 2. I don't see any specific apparent varieties on either side, but you will many times find the C in Canada, the 8 or 5 in the date, or some of the letters in the Obverse legend slightly doubled. There wewre approx 9.5 million minted and it is the most common of all the Vicky cents.
Thats a good looking coin! There are a ton of varieties for this date, a much closer look at the date will give us more information as to what variety this is and how much it is potentially worth
Some of the varieties are identified here http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...nt-1858-1859 but there are many more. As Bill says (and he is much more knowledgeable on this than I am!), the picture looks like a VF+ regular Narrow 9. So list price would be about $15. A very nice piece of history though!
