Struggling between three potential coins to add to the collection. Either a 2008 Buffalo 1/2 Ounce, a $10 Liberty or a $3 Gold.

Personally, I would go with something older, and that would rule out the buffalo. And I am in the camp that thinks pm is over valued these days, so I would want something with a lot of numismatic value. I'd lean towards a $3 gold coin myself. Of course, I'm not the one buying. So it's what you're into and what you think gold will do price wise.  |

I would go for the $10 gold Eagle for the best of both numismatic (age and design) and bullion (mass you're getting) worlds.

I would probably go with the $10 liberty or the $3 but the decision for me would probably come down to the individual coins. The decision is up to you.

Joey, there are a lot of variables here. What are you paying for transaction fees? Is the gold a bullion value or numismatic value?
I agree with Wilhelm and Sel. If your a beginner buyer you need to figure in a lot of information to make a profit. IMHO. Good luck!

I would lean toward a pre-Civil War (Type 2) $10 Eagle.

I would go for the highest possible grade $3.00 gold piece my budget will allow. Ten Liberties can be had anytime you want as a type coin. IMHO of course. Ed ANA LM-3175 |
