Denco, don't give up that information to a stranger. That's a distraction and let's keep this on-topic, yes?

Well, Denco wants to be so smart, clearly hes a biased person who is upset and takes it personal that I am trader and because I Am right and follow the patterns as all traders do,,, and that I am taking the stance that gold and silver are in a strong downtrend,, so if he wants to make accusations, then lets get down to it, you say she claims I am not legit,. well since you brought it up first, prove to me who she is her title and her qualifications and we can go from there. I would love to one up whoever your sister in law works for

Right.. right thats what I thought Denco.
Until you prove to me who she is, don't be going around making false accusations,,, you prove to me and then I can do the same.
But, to me, this sounds more like a personal problem. I feel you are one of those die hard gold and silver bugs that cant accept the truth.... I mean really, why such resistance from you,,, solely because I am a trader who is saying gold and silver are in a downtrend and to stay away from making major purchases for now? That I am saying to wait and get better prices for coins, ETFs, etc? IS that really such a bad things? ... and I have been right... but its not me thats made me right, its been that MARKET. Dont you get it... I dont care about being right, I want to be right by the MARKET.
Its a shame that someone who comes from a trading enviroment freely gives his time because he wants to help others and offers NO BIAS at all. I have not said ONCE that gold and silver are useless. I have said to be careful as they go down, to nibble and wait for much better prices.
Thats all I have said. Yes, if you must buy, then buy, but only in nibbles. Gold and Silver have their place ina long term portfolio. But do not bet the farm on it and dont expect them to come back to the moon in a rocket ship. Thats all I have said.
That said, I wish I hope I am on the record that
1- as far as coins, yes I dont thinks theres nothing wrong in buying gold and silver
2- My thread that I started is a guide for prices. Why? because no matter how much you fight it tooth and nail, the futures market dictates ALL the prices in the end. knowing where they go, is helpful.
3- IF you do have profits, I would take SOME, but not all. Better to take profits than to have regrets that you didnt sell, you can always buy back later.
Again, my thread is to help my fellow collectors gauge areas where to buy. I can help you all in that regard.

Quote: As I have said, they are in a strong downtrend- if you want to buy physical gold and silver, dont buy every single dip.
There will be much lower prices to be had, and physical coin buyers can guide themselves by the futures market, which is why I am posting the direction of the market in terms of price, so as to serve as a guide. Thank you for (finally) responding to my question, yup. So, if I understand what you are saying, lower prices are still to come and we shouldn't make any major purchases right now, but neither should we panic and sell our existing physical silver and gold since prices likely will go back up some time in the future. Is that correct? I obviously have to give you credit for predicting the recent drop. Whether prices will fall much further and stay there long enough to purchase more physical silver and gold at good prices remains to be seen, but I understand your concerns that people shouldn't be stocking up right now since you feel silver and gold are still primarily in a downtrend (despite the upward movement of the last few days). Having said that, I think you fail to realize that nobody is really stocking up or buying the dips right now due to the lack of availability and high premiums. For that reason, I am extremely glad I bought the dips on the way down to this level, even if I wasn't able to buy anything once spot prices hit rock bottom. And when, for example, people complain about the high premiums, it's not really helpful to start talking about not wanting to see people become "bag holders" or that we should start short selling paper PMs.

Quote: as far as coins, yes I dont thinks theres nothing wrong in buying gold and silver Sorry, I was typing my last message at the same time as you were typing yours. Can you please clarify what you mean by this? The double-negative and odd grammar makes it hard to understand. If you "dont thinks theres nothing wrong" in buying gold and silver, does that mean you do think there's something wrong and that therefore we shouldn't do it? Or did you mean you do think there's nothing wrong in buying gold and silver and therefore we should do it?

Barry-
My point is this- if someone is buying gold and silver, in coin form, and they view this as investment, I don't see or have a problem with that. However, please don't buy all the dips. Don't put all your money and savings into coins of gold and silver, especially at these current levels. Resist the urge to buy coins even if you see the market rebound from these current levels.
I believe based on the current trends in silver and gold prices, that the coin prices will also follow through (speaking in terms of the downtrend), what we are seeing now, as I been told, is that dealers are running them(the prems) up on panic.
and Barry, thank you for your time. I don't look to be right for my sake, but that I am right as measured by the market.
All I am trying to do, is share my knowledge and ability as a trader, freely giving to the community so that those who stack or collect can get the most out of their cash.
Finally, maybe I am mistaken but from some of your posts Barry, didn't you own PPLT... and I have seen other members discuss owning ETFs, and using options and I would suppose there has to be other lurkers who use these products... I wouldn't want to count out the ability and knowledge of our great coin collecting community.

Understood. But you need to understand that nobody is talking about putting all of his or he money and savings into coins of gold and silver right now. That's partially because, as I mentioned earlier, there simply aren't any deals to be had right now what with the lack of stock and high premiums. But it's mostly because everybody probably agrees that it's a bad idea to put all of ones eggs into a single basket. In other words, you're not telling us anything we don't already know, and telling it to us over and over again doesn't really help matters any. Quote: I believe based on the current trends in silver and gold prices, that the coin prices will also follow through (speaking in terms of the downtrend), what we are seeing now, as I been told, is that dealers are running them(the prems) up on panic. Well, I certainly hope you are right. As I've mentioned repeatedly, I bought silver and gold (not only coins but bullion as well) on the way down but stopped once premiums started going through the roof. I'm hoping that prices will stick around down here long enough for the premiums to drop as well, at which point I'll be making some more purchases. Not putting "all my money and savings" into it, but certainly a decent-sized purchase. Until then, however, I'm content to wait things out (as are many -- if not most -- others here on this forum). Again, I haven't seen anybody talk about putting all their money into gold and silver right now, so I can't understand why you keep warning people against doing that. I do own a (very) small amount of physical platinum, if that's what it stands for, but it's really just a couple of coins. I don't own any paper stocks of ETFs or the like.

Hey Baseball, yea wasnt that Ed or someone like that. then there was someone else who once said how they sold puts etc. some one else was talking about other ETNs. I guess my point is tho, we have a fairly large crowd of folks who know abot these other products related to gold silver etc.... and I wouldnt want to count out that group of people.

yup7676, for what its worth, I'm glad you saw this thread and decided to take up the defense. There are a lot of other things you could be doing with your time, but I think any 16-year-old wannabe would have avoided the thread like the plauge. As some of my Aussie friends would say "Good on ya mate."

Harrison, thanks for your kind words.
I really am not looking, for anyone to like me, I am not looking to be right because I said I was right. I wish I could emphasis that when it comes to assets, towards trading, I have NO BIAS.
I don't think anyone here understands that as a trader, what pays is taking the trend no matter what, even if it seems like its impossible, (in this case, disbelief that prices in gold and silver are dropping) if the trend is lower, if the price action and the volume, that is, those buying and selling, if those two are confirming something, I MUST take that stand. NEVER have I been right when I disagree with the market.
and that is the point I want to impress- I only care that the MARKET proves me right by what it does, not because I said its going to happen.
I realize taking this stand makes me extremely unpopular. I understand people will attempt to discredit me. I don't care. I feel I am offering a unbiased look at what traders are seeing everyday. I am not looking for popularity.
I came to this forum to learn about coins, to learn about world bullion coins, proofs. I don't know everything about them. But I do know about trading, I am active in the commodity market everyday, I am active in the equity markets. I feel the pulse and see whats going, I hear whats going on... not from the TV, not from papers but from being deep at the desk from sunrise until sunset.
anyways, ima sure Barry must be sick of me taking his thread.
But yes, I had to defend my honor and I wont have someone falsely discredit me because they are taking my postings personal.
