Hey everyone just need a bit of help. As some of you may know last week I posted a thread to sell of some of my collection to buy 1 or 2 really nice coins. Now I have decided on some of my coins to sell and just wanted to ask everyone here if they think that my estimates are accurate.

p.s. I intend to trade these with my favourite dealer at the Petersham show

1914h florin aVF 440
1915h florin gF 180
1885 sovereign EF/aUNC 500
1870 sovereign EF/aUNC 800
1933 shilling F 160
1932 florin VG 160
$2240 total

I have tried to price them on the cheap side after initially thinking that $2460 total maybe a bit to optimistic. Also can anyone give me any tips on any certain shillings in certain grades that I should look to swap for? because this represents approximately a third of my collection and I can't afford to waste it

Thanks in advance

I havent go my catalogue here but those prices seem to be around retail? If youre looking to trade I would expect to get 60-80% of retail.

Current 2013 McDonalds retail price as follows

1914h florin aVF 680
1915h florin gF 280
1885 sovereign EF/aUNC 550
1870 sovereign EF/aUNC 850
1933 shilling F 220
1932 florin VG 250
$2830 total

I'd say 75% of these prices and you would be doing well if you can get it

I reckon youd be looking at about 50% or less of Maccas Values

Beat me to it stevo and gee enworb 50% or less is kinda harsh I think. I am honestly hoping for $2000 in trade value otherwise I may as well not bother swapping.

It depends how well you know this dealer. In low-mid grades maccas prices are a joke. 50-60% of CV is the true retail value for most coins listed. A dealer would have to pay less to make some money. For instance ithink you would be lucky to get more than $100 for your 1933 shilling. You might get $150 for the 32 florin. Hopefully he knows you well enough and is willing to cut his profit margin a bit to help a friend or valued customer.

Id love for me to be wrong for your sake. You may as well take them along and test the waters. I just wouldn't go with high expectations. I have rarely been into a coin dealer and been offered more than what I have thought I would. Usually far less.

Hate to say but catalogues not realistic in terms of price you will get

Working on a "real price list/catalogue" but will take a few months to get significant data

You guys will be first to know

I'd say use catalogue minus 30-40%

Assuming they're accurately graded, these are the prices you'd get at auction:
250
100
400
550
150
250
===
1700
