Put me in the yes .. I collect all Washington quarters camp. I agree there is a good collector base for all these quarters and will be more in the future. I have multiple sets of all quarters from 1999 and up, for my personal collection. I also put together a few sets a year, to sell on consignment at LCS. I have sold every set I put up for sale. I try to keep enough of all dates and mint marks, so I can put together 10 to 20 sets. I do think only better grade coins should be kept. I feel the "S" mint business strike coins will be the sleepers of the ATB series.

Quote:my ATB Quarter folder has MANY holes. Just like I did for the State Quarters, I have three green Littleton date folders for circulation finds. All Denver coins, of course. All complete Hot Springs To Great Basin. If I attempted to do a folder for circulation-find "P" ATB's, it would have only eight holes filled (although I do now have two duplicate "P's", Hawaii Volcanos and Gettysburg, for a total of ten P ATB's found in Denver circulation since Jan. 2010 )

Quote: I actually think I like the ATB designs more than the State Quarters. I think it's the reverse with the circular border trimming the image that makes it look more...finished. I agree. I find very few ATB's in circ. , but the chickasaws seem to be the most common here.

Here's what I got to say:
Only save like two, one for your folder and one for a 2x2. So many people save these quarters. The modern coins have such a higher mintage than the classic.

I definitely like the ATB's more than the state series.. Although I have a complete GEM and circulation set of those as well. But I had a much harder time obtaining all of the circulation D mint States than I am with any of the ATB's.. I don't know if its just where I live or what but I find ATB's more than regular washingtons and State Quarter's combined... If I saved everyone I came across it would account for more than 3/4 of my coin jar (for spending). I find primarily P mints (being from massachusetts) but average 3-4 D's a week as well. I have a standing preorder where as there released I get GEM quality P, D & S (buisness strikes) sent directly to me. But I also have a circulation folder for P & D that I upgrade as I get better ones. The P's are complete to date & in super be condition and I'm missing 2 D's, some of these can still be upgraded.. Maybe I should start keeping all in good condition and throw them up on a trade list... As it seems many areas in the US (let alone Canada or other parts of the world..) they are hard to come by...

Like the State Quarters, I am saving 2 of each from bank rolls and one bank roll of ATB's. The rest are going back into circulation. Most of the ATB's have much lower mintages than the State Quarters, but I don't know if they will ever have much premium over face except for the US Mint issued products and the "S" issues. I like the designs of the ATBs much better than most of the State Quarters so I do enjoy looking at the set. I also think the ATBs are doing a lot to make our National Parks better known.

i think keeping them will pay off but not for a long time....and I mean only in BU condition not really rag ones...i keep all the ones I find from roll hunting because they to me are great looking coins and I know the ATB Quarters have a lot lower mintages than the state ones....i have heard numbers between 40-100 million...compared to some years with Washington quarters which have well over 400 million + it means if there are 50 million coin collectors out there and only 40 million made it makes it for a premium on them even if they are not directly out of the mint set...so in a shorter response yes I think they will pay off eventually depending on how you sold them (sets)

My goal is to put together a circulation set (to go along with my BU set) and I usually get D mint (in Texas) so I focus on only the D mint for the ATB. I apparently received two P mint Hawaii Volcanoes that I didn't even realize I had, though. I have a near-complete set for State/Territory quarters D mint from circulation, but I am missing one territory. Funny, I put that set together from change as they came out, but for years now I have been unable to find a D mint Puerto Rico. Right now, I am hanging on to ALL ATB Quarters I find, but will probably end up picking through them and tossing the scratched and defaced ones back into circulation, keeping a couple of each that have the most eye appeal.

I saved all my changes, sort them out into two piles Quarters & Cents & the rest (for recirculation)..... all my changes are like a small piggy bank/saving.... I do sort the quarters out (to do laundry) and I put all nice looking AU/MS slider coins in 2x2; I save the rest ATB Quarters in a pile so that in a few year, I'll buy some folders for my daughter to make her own collections.

I think after the ATB series is done, the mint should do an American Rest Stop series. This series could profile interstate rest stops, highlighting both welcome centers and top vending areas across the nation. Collectors could focus on specific interstates such as I-75 or I-80 or collect the whole series.
