Is This A 1913-D Type 2 Buffalo? - Coin Community Forum

brenpickle Pillar of the Community United States 836 Posts	Posted 11/04/2013 3:17 pm Please help. I just found this roll hunting. I am 95% sure it is a 1913d type 2. I tried to take pictures the best I could of what is left of the date, but they are no where near as good as in hand. The way the top of what I think is the 3 angles down so quickly makes me think it is a 3 and not a 7. Either way I am positive on the d and a 1913d type 2 or a 1917d is an amazing roll fine. Thanks for the help. I know the reverse picture is really out of focus, but I am not really looking for grade thoughts. I think it is G4. No horn, but maybe since it is a early date it might be a bit better. I just really want feedback on if you think it is a 1913 or 1917. Thanks again for the help and looking. westernsky Pillar of the Community United States 7631 Posts	Posted 11/04/2013 4:58 pm Hard to tell from the quality of the pics. The forth digit sorta looks like a "3" but might be a "7". Comparing it to other coins with stronger dates should help solve the mystery. Really, there are only about 4 or 5 "D" mint dates it could possibly be. Report this Post to the Staff

I know that your second photo shows what might be construed as the oval on the bottom of a 3, but it's too low and doesn't protrude far enough to the right so, whatever that is, I don't think it's part of a 3. hesgut Pillar of the Community 1028 Posts	Posted 11/05/2013 6:58 pm I can say with little doubt that the coin is a 1917-D. LIBERTY would never be that strong on a 1913-D at that level of wear. The mintmark is also typical of 1917-D. Besides, I'm pretty sure I can read a '7'. Report this Post to the Staff
