Thanks for the help on this. I guess I was not so far off in what I was thinking. I guess I don;t regret the 1.00 I spent for it! here is the story if interested: https://goccf.com/t/166733&

I think the coin was probably a nice VF 20 but became quite corroded and has been harshly cleaned. You can see the green oxidation present in the devices because those areas are harder to get at. Still a great pickup though!

Thanks for the input o-train. Could you educate me on where you see evidence of cleaning? I need to learn more about this. All I know to look for is brush marks.
I was using AM sunlight to take the pics and notice no matter which coins I take in this same setting, the sun seems to make all the flaws show very well.

It very well may be the lighting conditions. I guess I would really need to see the coin in hand. It's hard to explain but the wear patterns just look odd to me. Like the coin has been rubbed down in some places but not others. Also the high points are a lighter pinky colour which I thought was from cleaning and the copper below being exposed.

@o-train
I hope what I posted before did not come across as a challenge. It was not. It was a sincere request to learn. And I appreciate your reply. I see the pinkish areas of which you speak. I did not notice them in hand so I hope it is just the effect of the sun and my camera. I do not have a professional set up for taking pics and have yet to even think about things like white balance etc. on the camera.

I'll venture a guess at VF--the wear on the maple leaves seems consistent too.

No need to worry. It's a great coin and likely I'm just not accustomed to your photography style. The George V small cents and nickel nickels are my favourite Canadian coins. As I'm sure you now know this is the lowest mintage Canadian small cent at just 1,000,622. It would be impossible to find in Canada at this price but there are deals to be had south of the border for those that know what to look for.
