my order was just cancelled as well. what gives?! From the email:
"If some items have been cancelled from your order and you did not
request a cancellation, it may be that the items are sold out. Please
contact us for further information."
I'm really tempted to stop buying from the mint now. Orders cancelled and overpriced coins, I'm starting to think the free shipping for being in MC isn't worth it anymore.

Received my 2 packs today. The stickers were stuck to the packing slip not to the plastic . Way to go mint!!

They certainly should honor their sales. I know for a fact they are *not* sold out because the Mint will be having a coin exchange for them. Winnipeg will be February 14th and 15th and I imagine Ottawa and Vancouver will be the same or close to the same dates. I did eventually get an email saying mine had shipped, but who knows if they will actually arrive! I think the email was Thursday...

My order was cancelled!! What gives? Why would the mint process the order if it cannot ship? Every year the mint releases more and more coins (both non-circulating and commemorative circulating). It has just become a money grab.

I'm starting to speculate (call me crazy) perhaps the mint forgot about these olympic loonies or something happened during the minting process?

1. the design is VERY similar to the previous lucky loonie design. every other design has been different. maybe the new design for 2014 was misplaced and they decided to "retain a familiar popular design" ie the last design they probably have on hand?

2. could there be a problem with supply? maybe they didn't get the full mintage minted in time and have to cut back on the packs so they have enough for the coin trade events? another reason to all of a sudden enforce their 3 packs/family policy? or perhaps they ran out of materials for the packaging?

3. the rough packing job described by some people suggested to me perhaps they the packs were put together too late and they didn't have enough time to properly pack them (make sure the labels are flat and stuck on). I've noticed these coin packs don't usually come in white envelopes unless each 'unit' contains more than one pack (ie the last arctic packs had one pack of whales and one pack of explorers I think?).

I'm curious to see what others think.

i am from USA,and I got one of these on ebay (one coin, not the 5 pack) for around $3.50 shipped. Will all of the loonie from 2014 have the olympic rings on them? I am a bit confused and never actually seen or held a loonie in person. Thanks

@ scris252, no this will be a somewhat limited minting. (I don't know the number of the mintage, unfortunately.) Most 2014 Loonies will have the standard design without Olympic symbols.

@ Ravenzcoin: usually the Coin Exchanges come from rolls. afaik, the 5-packs are normally only on the website.

So we received our three sets today. Sorry for poor picture quality I just wanted to share. The stickers were intact and the condition of the coins were typical of what we've been seeing with regard to scratches and also some obvious bubbling under the plating on some. At a glance, no obvious doubling. I can't wait to find some in circulation so I can hope for something set worthy.
