I've been working on backgrounds for coins and came up with a stereogram. You have to be about 12 inches to 18 and look at the center. Let you eyes relax and it will turn into 3D in depth and the screen will look as though it isn't there.

No problem looking stereoscopically for me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This tool can be very powerful, not so much for looking at a stereo scopic pair of pictures of a single coin but looking at two images of different but similar coins superimposed over each other. Variations between the coins show up VERY obviously. VERY useful tool for identifying fakes and variations.
One of the tasks in my first job after leaving school was to look at stereoscopic pairs of photographs for a bush fire suppression survey in the inner catchment of a major dam. Pity I never went into the military after that basic training! I can't see any major varieties with these disks!

Like the old Magic Eye images. Very nice! I think the Lincoln Cent one is the keeper.

There is actually study on how using "holusions" and stereograms can improve presbyopia (old fogies like me needing "cheaters" to read and see mint marks) aging eyesight. Converging and crossing your eyes is a form of exercise. Yes, I was skeptical. However, I downloaded their free chart and found... it works! http://www.i-see.org/gottlieb/presbyopia_chart.pdfI find when using this daily I can a lot better when looking at coin dates and MMs. And I agree with jbuck - the penny one is a definite keeper! Great stuff coop Edited to add: Coop, do you have an original, larger version (more hi res) of the penny one? I'd like to make it a screen background.

You could make it you wallpaper and select stretch? that doesn't work. Email me and I'll send you a wider image.

Image sent. Thanks for asking. It makes a great background.

I find that while I am letting my eyes see the three dimensional image if I move the cursor over the image it appears to be floating a distance above the three dimensional image. (although I do see two cursors, both of which seems to be floating between me and the images.)

And thank you Coop. This makes me want to get back into making them again sometime. I think jbuck would agree with me when I say an Ike one would look great! If I had a way to retrieve the old files off hard drive sitting on a shelf I could pull up some of the ones I made (old Commodore AMIGA computer system). But mine had some that just looked random until you converge or cross your eyes ... then a message or picture popped up. I like your penny in 3D better

Here is another one I just made today: A little tougher to see, but it looks like 3 columns in front?
