Where do you guys buy your tape in bulk? I buy a 4 pack at Walmart. Also, how do you guys figure tape and supplies price such as printer cartridge into your shipping? It would be easy if I done one package all the time, but I use all kinds of different sized boxes and bubble mailers. Any ideas?

Not sure what your Walmart charges, but the last time I bought it Amazon was the cheapest option for me. Same with bubble mailers

6 pack of packing tape at staples is the cheapest I've found, seller ecoswift on ebay cheapest for bubble mailers, agree with ssuperdave on not charging for shipping and making sure you have plenty of headroom to cover your incidental costs...

There are several online Sellers that offer great prices on bulk bubble mailers and bulk tape along with "free" shipping. The guys I buy from are on ebay. I've never had a problem and always have had quick delivery.

If I know I'm going to use a #000 mailer, I will charge shipping of $2. If it is a less expensive coin, free shipping in a first class envelope. I always combine orders at no cost. I just bought some #000 mailers on ebay, for $0.12 each.

I don't ship enough in bubble mailers to buy a whole bunch of them, although it is helpful to know that there are good deals out there. My main issue is the tape. I would just kind of like to add that charge in somewhere, because I am using quite a bit.

A quick check on Amazon 480 yds of tape for $23 dollars. 1 yd per package (very generous) equals less than $0.05/mailing. Not a big cost adder compared to bubble mailer or postage. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yeah, and some of my things only use a yard of tape, but most use a lot more. A bunch of the boxes I send out weigh 15 or so pounds and measure something like 25x13x10.

I never charge any extra for packaging materials, its part of doing business for me and it all gets written off as office supplies at tax time.

Quote: Sometimes I'll use their bubble mailers to pad the inside of a box since they're free. I have wanted to do this. Do you think usps would get mad if they found out? I have been guilty of cutting up boxes that they send me that are wrong. For example, they sent me a apo fpo box instead of a large. I have yet to ship apo fpo, so I just cut it up and sent it priority covered in brown paper.

I buy from Royal Mailers, which we found online. They always ship free, and have great prices on supplies.
But, buyers think the postage is all there is to shipping. we use bubble envelopes, bubble wrap, tape, paper and ink for invoices, shipping labels, and whatever else is needed. I usually do free shipping and factor the price into the selling price, including the Paypal fee I would be charged on shipping, which I believe now happens. Coin buyers know what they are willing to pay, and add shipping to the price. his way I get no criticism, and have 100% feedback.

We have a set price for mailing material and include it to the item cost. We do not give out a printed invoice to save cost for the buyer. We encourage the buyer to down load their own invoice if they want one. We work as a hobby business that has no assets. The items come from my collection and a mailing cost is recorded as a single cost with each sale. No stock takes for us. But we do get a photocopy of all our shipping items after they are cancelled. Six items fit to an A4 sheet usually. As ebay sellers we need to lessen our costs as much as possible. It is not hard to make more selling on ebay than auction houses for the more affordable type items. This system stops a lot of asset problems when it comes to the Government. It works for us!
