interesting

those mirrors are PL but I am not aware of having seen too many business strikes with PL surfaces so I am left to scratch my head. From the education I have been given, the flow lines seem evident so I do not imagine this was a polish job. I am an avid collector of high end Mercury dimes and I cannot call this one

I would say MS64. That is a nice coin. Sucks that it has those splotches.

Nice looking coin. More than likely it is your photo that makes it appear almost proof like for shime. Appears to be a scratch on neck. Middle bands on reverse are completely flat. Small dent in one of the diagonal bands too. Still all in all should or could be a MS-62 or -63. I don't think it would go as high as -64 but never can tell.

interesting issue about this and the nickel.
When I was at my LCS, I had put a nickel and a dime in one corner and another in the other corner of a cloth.
The owner too the wrong ones. these were the two I had actually discarded.
I realized my mistake after posting the images and called the LCS on Saturday. I am going to go in Monday and see if they will let me swap them out for the other two I wanted.

MS details. You've got some kind of crap on the obverse there... Not a bad coin, but needs a soak in acetone and maybe a dip... I'd call it a 63 when it's all said and done. That scratch on the neck may keep it to a 62.
