There are several ways they could tone like that. It could have been an album (like you mentioned) or they could have been in an canvas bag (where the light and some kind of chemical mixes to form the color on the metal of the coin) or it could be AT where someone took heat or chemicals to make those colors. If that is the case then I will toss them back (except for the first one)
I think every area in the nation contributes to some form of different toning,Depends of what in the air and its suroundings,My old Grand ma use to get her Glass ware out and set them in the sun for months and you talk about the pretty colors that would form in that glass was amazing
