I have been arguing back and forth with the seller of these dimes. They admitted they used another listing as a template and sent me completely different dimes. Here is the listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121395079788 and here are the dimes sent. They wanted me to return them and pay return shipping or pay what I can get them for at the local shop plus original shipping. I left negative feedback when a solution was not reached, pay shipping for return or partial refund. This is what was sent to me:   Another issue is this lot here that states there is a 1896 in the lot and it is not. What do you think I should do about this? I doubt there is much that can be done except for neg feedback. Probably not high enough dollar for real action. I had a guy completely screw me with a custom knife, and when I escalated the case ebay screwed me aswell. |

Open a case, then escalate when you get a chance. Stock photos aren't allowed. You'll win. If you don't win on review, call ebay and they'll overrule it. I went through something not dissimilar with a $250 raw coin. Seller totally tried to job me by sending me a counterfeit instead of the real deal. Escalation found in his favor since he stated in the listing he wasn't sure if it was real or not. I called them and after a ten minute conversation which many things, including mail fraud were mentioned, they refunded me and told me to destroy the counterfeit, and NARU'ed the seller. Support said I would win and get refunded. I am not sure if this was a stock photo. They said they used another listing as a "template". It could be a stock photo. What about the listing where the seller claimed there was a 1896 in the lot and later stated it was misprint. Should I open a case on that one too? I think a small refund would be in order of a few bucks just on principle.

Nah, I am escalating to support for that one since the user admitted to using a different listing to sell the coins. I will just escalate it. If the seller wanted their dimes back, I would send them if they paid shipping. I am not going to screw it. They said they would refund me if I would remove their negative feedback but not going to do it. What about the other listing? It says there was a 1896 and there was not.

FYI: I don't care if it was $6 or $600, the principle of the matter when you receive something else than listed. Funny thing is that these coins weren't even 1912 which is in the listing. They are 1912-s.

You are covered by the ebay Money Back Guarantee on your first transaction. On the second one I don't see any 1896 dime in the pictures. So next time if you realize that the pictures don't match the description use the feature 'Ask a question' before buying. Maybe an honest mistake of the seller, maybe not. Who knows. Edited by junjun

Yeah well, if ebay decides the case in your favor they'll remove the negative feedback. They've done it to my negs I've left probably 5-6 times. |

From what I understand, they must first determine if the feedback violates their policy. I didn't attack the user just said that dimes sent were not the dimes int listing, which is fact. I told the seller they are welcome to try to have my feedback removed, but I will not remove the feedback since what I said was fact and the seller admitted they used another listing as a template and those were not the coins in the picture. As far as the second pic, there are dimes where you are unable to see the date. I could ask for a few dollars refund or the 1896 but they don't have it.

The feedbacks that were removed from me simply stated the sellers issues. IIRC, the exact wording of one was "Seller sent me a counterfeit coin instead of the real coin in the listing." Removed after I got my refund. They remove them because of the case decided in your favor. As far as they're concerned, if you get your money back, you're not entitled to leave a negative because the transaction has been, in effect, cancelled. Like I said, I've had this happen about half a dozen times. Another time seller advertised a coin as BU, problem free. I paid about $60 for it. Get it, it's a cleaned to heck AU. I asked for a partial refund, he declined. Opened a case, seller relented and refunded me $40 (premium over melt) and I left a Neg that said something along the lines of "Coin was cleaned and AU, not BU. Partial refund required a case with ebay." It was removed less than 48 hours later. Edited by chasingtailbar

We'll see, the seller offered a refund but I have to remove the negative feedback as a condition. I told them no since I am covered by ebay Buyer Protection. If she wants to fight the feedback fine. Edited by buddy16cat

I'm not sure of the exact time frame that everything went down, but I would have probably opened a case(s) first, and left neg feedback as a last resort. The seller(s) would be foolish to not do whatever it took to make you happy. First, because they are wrong, and secondly, a negative feedback with as few sales as they have would really hurt them. Just my .02
