Not if you paid the massive prices for these rolls of just 50 regular nondescript 2012 pennies, we gave grief to the Coin Show guy for resleaving these rolls with their own label and selling for 10 to 20 dollars a roll before the RCM copied this slick marketing.

Here's another beef with this product, when they were released the RCM stated one (1) per household. ebay sellers were selling consecutive "desirable" serial numbers, they had more than one. I recognize that odds are dealers would end up with consecutive serial numbers. I contacted the mint with an access to information request to see why theses sellers get preferred treatment....they did not respond. Some people made a lot of money with just pennies.

Quote:This ebay description of the last million pennies produced is misleading what these rolls of just 50 regular 2012 pennies are, similar to the massive price for roll #10000, but I still hope they sell these rolls for 6500.00 I agree the description is questionable but dealers used the same description. "The Last Million Circulation Pennies Distributed by the RCM" http://www.colonialacres.com/produc...41036&ref=47Gatewest called them 2013 Special Roll of 1-Cent Coins 'The Last Million Pennies' As did the Mint. http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/speci....U-uSo4ZzaM8Kind of hard to say the eBayer is misleading anyone. Also, it was roll 20000 that was dubiously sold by a dealer for 6600USD. At least it made for a good story. http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/last-r...on-1.1180288Numismatics are strange eh. People regularly pay hundreds of dollars for cupronickel bird coins and I don't see a big difference between those and special packaging of ordinary pennies.

Looks like the the cheapest roll that has sold on ebay recently went for around $60 CAD last month. Still very good in comparison to the $10 issue price. I remember thinking even that was very high for a roll of penny's and didn't end up buying one. A family member ended up buying me a roll as a gift and I am still amazed at how much these have appreciated in value.

The entire farewell to the penny series is still holding its value or selling above issue. The 5oz is cool because the big coin series lacks the penny.

The RCM Farewell to the penny rolls are officially the last million pennies ever struck by the Mint. There are other penny rolls floating around out there but these are the real last ones ever made so the value of these rolls is based upon that fact. There were 20000 rolls produced. Why do people pay the prices you've seen? Ask yourself, why do people pay 250000$ for a car? One because they can and two because they are getting something exclusive. You own one of these 20000 rolls you own the very last coins ever produced. Hope that clarifies things. :-) Steph.

Resurrected after 7 years... This sounds a lot like the US 2023 "director's strike" Peace dollars. There's nothing to distinguish them from any other coin except the COA. Marketing works!

There's what people list them for and then there's what they sell for. I only saw two sold listings on ebay (which isn't many), one for $51.85 and one for $118.59. These were both the mint commemorative rolls.
