themetallurgist Valued Member United States 111 Posts	Posted 09/29/2014 11:55 pm the proof Lincoln is in an older NGC 7 holder (1997-2001) and was graded RD. certainly not RD and I knew there was toning, but the photos I saw at the time didn't quite show this beautiful even toning! I didn't pay for the RD grading, but for the cameo. so if it was graded RD, then how has it toned so much over the past 13-17 years? had it been dipped then toned over time? how can I stop further toning? I'm thinking about getting a vacuum chamber - take away the oxygen and moisture. Anyone have something like this? Does it work? I loved the toning also. with the naked eye it's not as blotchy on the obv and a spot o the rev, but otherwise, I fell in love with it! I think I'm going to get a 5 gallon vacuum chamber to store all my nice coins. I won't come close to filling it, but I figure with dansco albums and such it will eventually. not sure how the slabs are going to react. I'm going to try it on a PCI slab. I may have to drill a small hole to get the air out of the slab, but I'm very hesitant to do that for obvious reasons. I think eventually the air will bleed out of it. Report this Post to the Staff
