Coins and Canada says that they are around $15-30 meaning rare, but out of the two 1990 Nickels I had, one was of this variety, so, did I just get really lucky?

I have been searching nickels for about a year, and it took about 6 months before I found 1, Now I search more rolls, but I do find them every now and again. However what I have discerned is that there are varying degrees of BARENESS.

I have found about 2 or 3 full nude bellies, and about 30 that are from a sliver, to more like what the OP posted. 47P& Look at the belly section of the beaver (between the front legs and the rear legs, the triangular section).

the C&C website do not distinguish between the variations of bareness so I don't know where the rule lies, but I don't think one that is have bare would command the same value as one that is fully bare.

Perhaps others who have more experience can weigh in on this one, I would like more opinions myself.

BTW, nice find and yes you were lucky on your first look.

If you are a member of the RCNA, you can access an article that I wrote on this variety (May 2014 issue of the CN Journal).

Yeah, here... (small price to pay, for the amount of literature available to you online)

You can also find a membership form in the back of any Charlton catalogue. Junior members (below age of 18) will need a guardian/parent sponsor.

I had the two in a small bag of some other Nickels, and they weren't even supposed to be in there with them because they were only from 1990 and it was the first coin that I thoroughly checked for errors or variations, so, from those points and the rarity of them, I'd say I got very lucky.

yes they are hard to find no doubt, you have to look through a lot of nickels to find one, plus it depends on the condition. I would put a tag of 15 bones on it and go from there if you are selling.
