I'd like to bid on it, but not sure if I'm seeing cleaning/hairlines. Thanks. Ed

A light past wipe is possible with those hairlines.

I'm not seeing anything that's screaming "cleaned", just looks like a normal AU to me. For that price you can't go wrong anyway.

I agree that it's probably had at least a light wipe judging by the hairlines.

There are so many of these out there that can be found for cheap in Mint State. Why not hold out for a better example?

I'm weighing in with solid AU - the 'hairlines' visible in the digital photo IMHO are the result of modern photography capturing every surface detail ... not an obvious cleaning.

That said - there are plenty examples of this 1883 N/C nickel available in MS state.

Thanks for the replies. The condition and price caught my eye. Going to be hard to pass on if the price stays low. I was hoping the hairlines were due to the photography, as I've seen that effect before. Anyway, worst case scenario, light cleaning.

edit: On second thought, I'll pass. I didn't realize it was the "no cents" version.

Still not a bad deal for 10 with free shipping. A good type set coin for someone.
