I own this 1939 Mercury dime and am wondering if this coin could be considered as having Full Split Bands. The center bands are clearly distinct, but they are a bit weakly struck. Is this an FSB Mercury or not? Thanks for your opinions. Paul Bulgerin

It looks FSB to me from this picture. It would be easier to see in-hand.

Could be. 39-S is the genuine rarity in FSB.

For FULL bands, the top of the bands need to have tops much like a loaf of bread. This coin is the 'full bottle'!
It is possible to have all bands completely split, without them being 'full'. Some people interpret this as 'fully split bands' as FSB, when the bands may be a little flat on top due to slight wear or a slightly weak strike. 'Half full bottle' in such a case.
That is why I prefer the term full bands, rather than fully split bands.

Simply put, YES. And I'd love to add that to my all FSB set.

Looks FB to me. While many think that it is just the center band that must be split, it is actually all three that must be split.

That one is so bad I wouldn't put it in Set #12.

52Raymo is right, that's my coin. However, I'm going to be taking it off ebay shortly to either revise the description to Full Bands or perhaps to send it to NGC to see if it would make MS-65 FB.

Upon looking at the ebay pictures that can zoom, I think it may not make FSB. The middle bands have about 2 spots where they are not fully split.
