No feedback yet on the "ESTATE SALE OLD US GOLD COIN☆1 PIECE LOT☆ $2.5 $5 $10 $20" BIN auction. Let's give it a week or two to see how the feedback plays out.

Assuming you get a Quarter Eagle from this, what's the cheapest you can expect to pay elsewhere for a common, cleaned example of a pre-1933 $2.50?

Most likely you will get either a $2.5 Indian or a $5 Indian. I really doubt that you will get a $20 or even a $10 at that kind of price.

Yeah, but that does not keep people from trying...

Do you need a gambling license to run one of these sales? You'd probably be better taking $400 to the nearest casino!

FOUND IT! COLD HARD EVIDENCE.

This is the same coin: a 1907 eagle. You can tell by the rim ping at about 5 o'clock on the obverse.

The coin from this auction:

And here's the coin from his "estate sale gold." I like how he broke one of his mason jars.

Here's another. Better bid now, because there's some extra-rare circulated clad stuff in the middle.

At least this guy's honest about stacking the jar.

Another one, $4K with 7 hours left. The warning to other sellers at the bottom is kind of funny. He's claiming copyrights to the "look and feel" of the listing.

I think it's kind of funny how he says he can guarantee that there's nothing newer than 1964 when he later says that the jar is unsearched.

*sigh*

I think that I would bid on his jars, but I would not bid the kind of money that he is getting for them. I would bid only based on the market value of the coins (and in this case there are notes too) visible.
