I bought one set and am buying another for a fellow member. I honestly never even looked at mine that closely. I've also never returned anything to them. They will accept returns just because of what looks like lint/dust on the inside? Or do you have actual spotting on the coin itself...

I got mine a week ago. I haven't looked at them yet. I've seen that spotting before on proofs from the mint. Before I got the proof set, I got two proof sets of the Presidential dollars. One of those coins had what, if they weren't proofs, I'd guess was counting wheel damage, but I don't know if counting machines are used with proofs. It was like a big smear or patch of parallel lines. I didn't send them back because it wasn't worth the trouble at $15 or whatever they're charging for those proof sets.

Every time I think about those prez dollars it makes me mad. IMHO those are among the ugliest U.S. coins. Maybe 1st place, second being the Missouri quarter. Jefferson is the worst yet.

I have not received mine yet. Most likely due to the fact that I have not ordered them.

I will order them when I order the mint sets once they are available. I try to make the flat rate shipping charge go as far as possible.

When I do receive them I will inspect them closely for spots though.

Thanks,

Jim

We bought two, one for me and one for my wife.

No problems seen except that in one set the dime was placed a little at an angle.

I was fortunate enough to go directly to the Denver Mint to buy mine. I've been doing this for several years and they usually let me look through several so I can pick out the best one. They're cracking down on allowing that to happen because they're afraid of holding up other customers in line. The fact is, I was allowed to look at the sets off to the side, but the gift shop configuration changed and there's no "side" to really go to now. Bummer!

This time, there was no line and the clerk helped me look through four. I still ended up with one with some sort of mild residue on the Sacagawea (not too obtrusive, but there) and lint/dust on the proof president dollars. I'm toying with the idea of opening up the cases to see if I can't get rid of that residue and dust.

After reading these posts, I looked at the set I just got. The half and the nickel are very spotty/misty. I never thought to keep the packaging slip. Should I buy another set?

Got my set and my favorite coin in the set is the lincoln. It looks amazing! That is not to say that the rest of the coins don't look great, they do, but I have never seen a lincoln with such appeal to me before.

Got my set yesterday; it took about 2 weeks to receive after I placed my order. There are a few microscopic defects in the frosting on one or two of the president dollar portraits, but nothing severe enough to bother sending the set back.

I received mine at the house last Saturday, but I haven't been home to see them. When I get home tomorrow, I will be sure to take a look at them, closely. Thanks for the heads up.

I posted earlier in this thread, but since then have looked very carefully at the coins, and see no problems.

Just got mine yesterday. Their terrible, spots everywhere. The cent even has a gouge in it and you can see chips off abe's head. Definitely going back. I might of actually kept it if abe had a chip off the shoulder!

I got one 2007 silver proof set (14 coins) and it looked amazing. So, I decided to buy another thinking that it would rise in price like the 1999. I'm still waiting for my second one to come.
