Here's pictures of my (relatively) new 09-VDB. Finally had the time to take pictures. I'm still sucking, it may be because it's a cheap digital. I can NOT get the color right on the S-VDB, so any NorCal locals who are good with a camera... PM me!

Also included are a couple pictures of my 1888 3CN (only 36,500 minted) that's going up on ebay soon. I setting a BIN, but I haven't decided what price yet.

Edit: I removed the pictures of my 1888 3CN because I already made a thread looking for price advice. I don't want to flood the forum with the same coin.

zachary, I've seen PCGS examples of MS66 VDB's go for outrageous prices. I got mine for $250, which I think is a good deal.

Very nice coin, it photographs well.

I remember the first 1909 VDB I ever bought. I was probably around 11 years old and it cost me a buck. It was a grade of G, give or take. I got it in a coin shop, and for the life of me I couldn't see the VDB on the back. So I asked the guy, "are you sure this is a VDB?" The dealer didn't like being challenged, he yelled at me.

Anyway, I still have the coin in a Dansco folder. It's probably worth a buck and a half today.

Nice looking coin. As to the photos. Appears you are using a flash or lights on one side creating shadows. If your in a warm, sunny area, why not just take the photos outdoors. Lots of that thing called natural lighting provided by the guy above.
In reality, try the outdoor lighting. On a sunny day, but not in the direct sunlight, take the photos. The attributory lighting from many directions should eleminate the shadows and give you a more natural color. Note with outdoor lighting you see things as you see things all the time. Also, place the coin on a dark background so the electric eye on your camera will focus on the coin.
If you place your coins on a black bar-b-que grill cover make sure it is not during a cooking session.
