An update to my paypal case with the chargeback going back to January. Because I could show proof of shipment and he signed for the item recorded on Canada Post website, Paypal is giving me back my $825. :)
Good to know 'seller protection thingy' works! Now paypal have to chase the money from their end to the buyer and credit card company.

It's seems the "buyer protection" advertising ebay has been doing the past few months is bringing out more dishonest people. I've had 2 claims in the past 10 days, both for low value items that would be cost prohibitive to add tracking. Figures that I was suspicious of both buyers when I read their feedback and recognized that one person had already bought a small coin from me under a different user name. |

We just solved all of our problems for shipping low value items in the US. Every thing will now go tracked from the US. We just moved close to the US border in the Fraser Valley of BC and it is 25 minutes to the border . It is so easy I myself still cannot believe it. You fill out one form for the US customs and they spot check the odd pak and you are on your way. We walk across the border and the post office is 400 metres from the border. We already have a US Post box shipping address and can NOW take full advantage of TRACKED ebay shipping. We started printing online postage and boy is it cheap to deal in the US now. Our new policy is we use Canada post for Canada and world wide and USPS exclusively for the US and possessions. |

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and ideas.
Especially Groszy, I filed the BBB complaint, received a call from PP and a credit for the full amount, they decided to take a 2nd look at the case, reinforced the need to use tracked shipping, but saw the issues with this transaction and issued a credit. I was pleasantly surprised.

Pacificoin, is there a special way that you got the online USPS account. I have tried many times, but it refuses to accept my CC number, are you using a US card or do you simply list your USPS box as the address?

@ purelywasted We have it all set up through stamps.com. We use a USPS Postal Box in WA state and we have a US credit card. It is a pretty slick system. When we set it up got some free goodies as well. We opted to buy the labeller as constantly cutting up paper and gluing it on paks is too much arts and crafts. It was around 169.00 US plus we will get nailed for the GST when we bring it back.
I can certainly see that we will be able to compete on a more even playing field with US ebayers now. Free tracking alone is reason enough to take advantage of this. Purely ALL of our US sales are being walked across the border with no problems at all. You do not have to pay the $10.75 per use fee if you are on foot (mandatory if you drive). Also the US customs said to make sure you use the correct form (there are two different ones) as per valuation. The only other requirements do not seal the paks as they are subject to spot check and the items must be duty free and legal to import. So coins of MOST countries and small antique collectibles are perfectly acceptable.

Wade no I had a shop in Victoria BC for years. We relocated to the Fraser Valley recently and will be doing the Vancouver shows again. No more coin shop for me ............too old and cranky !  !! |

Any issues bringing items valued at $200 or more across the border? It is my understanding that there are charges (duties) that have to be paid on items entering the usa valued over 200? Thanks in advance for the response
