Did the ten dollar "peace keeping" bank note , journey series I think, have a YGV prefix?

I am not aware of any denomination starting with Y_ _ ... I think the only two letters used to start a prefix for the denomination you speak of has been B and F

The reason is because I cant find a reference to this prefix. However this may be because the book I'm using may have been printed before the series was completed.
I saved a note with this prefix.......but I don't remember why

The spacing between the letters are too narrow. I've seen a counterfeit $10 without the strip, with a similar narrow font (I can't remember the prefix) and washed-out colour, even though it was shown to me by a bank manager so there's no way I can get it. Does yours have a watermark or intaglio printing for the portrait on the other side? The one I saw didn't.

unless you can provide really high res photos/scans of both sides from what I'm seeing the markers here look like the note is a fake

Don't know why I didn't think of a fake bill. That would explain the odd serial number. This bill looks like it went through a washing machine. The Number 10 is not raised and the dark patch by Sir John A's ear doesn't show ten when looked at from an angle.
Here's a couple more pics but I think your right.
I probably kept it because it looked different than others.

Now that you know it's a counterfeit you would be committing a serious crime if you try and spend it. Darn huh!

The thing I wonder about counterfeit notes is that it they often do a good job with both sides printing but not that well on the serials. Is it that difficult to copy a font or look up an existing prefix?

I think one reason it's easily overlooked is how many people actually KNOW which prefix's are used in which denominations.... very few.. so it can almost be an "after thought" ...

Something I don't think the counterfeiters have even clued into yet.

Also some people have suggested that the counterfeiters will use their own prefix as a kind of signature on their work.

I don't know which prefixes are used in which denomination, but if they used an existing prefix and a better font, I'll be more convinced rather than when I see a prefix that's so far off. I'm hoping I'll never meet one good enough to get duped though.

Counterfeit serials are a funny thing. I have a note with no serials at all (not Canadian).

I've never heard of serials being used as a signature, but it sounds a bit counter-logic (if that's a word) to me.
