Even if it's just a penny, it's still free money

I only pick up pennies that are heads-up. "See a penny, pick it up, and all the day you'll have good luck!"

I pick up anything you never know what it could be. I found 20$ bill in a very busy mall. How does no one notice that

That must've been nice, I never go to my local mall since there's never any money on the ground there, even though I initially assumed there would be. I think my school and amusement parks are the way to go.

My late Father always told me he could judge how well the economy was doing by how much change he found in the parking lot of the local convenience store. During a recession he would go months without finding a single penny. When he started finding cents, nickels, dimes and quarters on a regular basis that was a sign the economy was picking up.
For an "uneducated" man my dad was pretty darn smart.

I generally pick up all coins (never see bills on the ground). You never know what you will find

All the time. Some have said that it seems I have an eye for it.

The poll results are interesting and not at all surprising.

I pick everything up - even a smashed penny in the mud. I don't find very much, perhaps an average of 1 coin per week.
Last week I found a 1 Euro coin in the parking lot at work. The first Euro coin I ever found, and very unusual because I live in Michigan. I pondered how it got here.....

It boggles the mind how many pennies I pick up each day. We sell tickets for $10.29 (which means anyone who's not paying with a card is likely to get a penny back). Most people tell the cashier to keep it. Others take it, walk 3-4 steps & drop it on the floor rather than in their pocket....some folks actually toss them in the garbage.

Wow, I still can't believe people would throw a penny away. What if they unknowingly got an error coin worth a lot, such as a 1999 WAM? The only time I saw a person outside of school (my friends know I collect money so they always give me their change ) get rid of their change was back in January at my local ice skating rink. A man bought some hot cocoa for $3.25, paid with 4 singles, and threw the change in the tip jar. However, he spilled the cup, so he only got about half of the stuff. The cashier even offered him a refill, but he declined. That's probably the biggest waste I've seen. And the funny thing is, after that happened, I found 2 1 dollar bills on the ground over by the condiments.
