I sure hope I can get it reholdered at the same grade. Any thoughts on what a good purchase price would have been? I will tell how much I paid after a couple guesses Edited by cjspearsdog 05/20/2015 1:11 pm

I'm hoping to get a Wisconsin commemorative myself one day. I'm going to guess...$300?

Ouch. Of course for me this is a good thing, since I would be cracking it for an album anyway. Okay, maybe not one that high of grade.

I'm thinking there was a possible discount for the bad slab.

I paid $163.25 + I get $16 back in ebay bucks. It will cost $12 to reholder, all-in-all I think I got a good deal by patiently waiting to purchase a coin that I have wanted for quite a long time

You beat me to the answer ... LOL ... some of us actually need to work for a living.
I was going to say ... current Greysheet 'Ask' in MS65 is $180 ... anything lower than that is a fair deal.
PCGS will charge you $12 to re-holder ... if you have submittal privileges. Be mindful that there is also shipping both ways and a $10 'handling fee' ... so the final cost is much more.
You are guaranteed the same PCGS grade in a new holder ... but that CAC green been will be gone. That ... alas ... is another submittal and more $.
Lovely coin at a fair price.

Your Wisconsin is 64 points to high for me. :) I'll bet it would cost more than $163 for that grade for us lowball collectors. You did get a nice one.

That's a nice Wisconsin. I've had this happen to me in the past. The seller paid all fee's to get it reholderd. I was born in Wisconsin, and here is my example:

Congrats on having the patience to wait for a coin you truly enjoyed adding to your collection! And at a good price!
As other have mentioned, PCGS will assign the same grade during a reholder (assuming the cracked plastic did not touch the coin itself and damage its surface) but the CAC beanie will not be restored without a separate submission.
Good luck with reholder submission - let us know how it turns out!

Does the CAC sticker really affect the price? Is it worth re submitting for that also?

Quote: Does the CAC sticker really affect the price? Is it worth re submitting for that also? It can. I've seen auction results show coins with CAC stickers being sold at prices 5% to 20% more than non-stickered coins. That said, IMO, I would not re-submit your coin for the CAC sticker. The potential premium it would bring would not be enough to cover the cost of the submission fee and associated shipping costs.

Thanks commems. It does not make a difference to me anyway just was curious for future resale for my kids or something. I was just excited to get such a nice coin for what I think was a good price. I was born and raised in Wisconsin so why not get a coin with my states name on it, right:) I will update after coin is received and re-submitted to PCGS. I have some other stuff getting submitted along with it. Like, a couple nice looking 2015 roosie dimes from a certain set, wink, wink. Also, a morgan and a MS red Indian (I hope).

I agree with commems that it doesn't really need to be resubmitted to CAC. Now if it had a Gold CAC sticker, it would.

pretty conservative grading thought it could be 66 or 65+

OK, So I was unaware that PCGS would still try to stick me with a $10 handling fee and a $22.95 S/H fee along with the $12 reholder fee even though I am submitting a bunch of other stuff with it. Should I just crack it out and submit it raw and take the gamble for a 66?
