So, while going through our (my kids and I) bank rolls, we discovered our very first DD I think. It's obviously a 1962 Nickel, no mint mark. The kids are driving me nuts because it is, "SOOOOO COOL MOM!!" and of course the follow up question is, "How much is it worth mom?" My son swears its worth millions lol so cute.. I assured him I didn't think it was worth nearly that much maybe a few bucks if anything at all. Anyways any ideas what this is actually called/worth? The coin has a lot of wear on it that is for sure so I don't know if that means there is no value in it at all or minimal, but I think I am slowly learning a few things after reading everyone's post here, and I am still a little lost on that part of it. ** FYI I love how knowledgeable and helpful everyone is **
Because nickel is so hard, it wears down the dies a whole lot. This die pair was over used, causing Die Deterioration Doubling. It spreads and nushes the devices and blends them into the fields. This is worth 5 cents. Sorry.
Thanks guys :) its definitely a neat looking coin we will keep in our collection for now... We have favorite coins worth only face value to anyone but us :) info is greatly appreciated!!
