So I get extremely paranoid when it comes to coin storage...I mean while we want to look at and enjoy our coins; we also want to keep our coins looking great, right. Since Ziploc bags are food safe and no pvc I often double up and put other coin containers inside of ziploc bags.

Currently though I have an issue with my slabbed coins that I have in NGG storage boxes. Yes I could take them out of the boxes and store them in bags but I'm curious. Does anyone know if an NGC storage box will fit inside a 2 Gallon Ziploc freezer bag? I know for a fact it won't fit inside the 1 gallon bag. Yes I realize I could buy a box and find out but I don't really have any other use for the 2 gallon bags and at the current financial moment I'm trying to buy a house and every dollar matters if I want to have a coin budget at all.

Thanks for any info or other suggestions anyone might have.

Next time at the store, see if the box of bags gives the bag dimensions. It might help.

Since the subject involves coin storage allow me to suggest that eliminating moisture should be one of the most (if not the most) important objectives.

The hydrogen atom from H2O vapor can often disassociate and recombine the Cl atom of salts (NaCl) sometimes found on coins to form HCl, which is hydrochloric acid whose effects need no explanation.

Verdigris, for example, initiates more rapidly, destructively, and permanently entrenched when humidity is abundant etc.

The following desiccant for cell phones from Idea Village costs from $ 1 - $ 2 each when the Dollar Store or Big Lots purchase a bunch of them. Just throw one of them in each 2 gal bag.

They turn color when saturated with moisture. A microwave will rejuvenate them for virtually unlimited uses.

Why not just take the slabbed coins and put them in a Zip Lock bag by themselves? Then you could use even smaller sized bags. Just don't use those storage boxes. Or take those coins out of the slabs and put them in Albums. That is what I do.

Change what you collect. Think left field!
Alternative: How about ancient, hammered and / or milled coins, with good patination? In fact, good patination may add significant value.

Ancient coins are often recovered from ground burial after centuries of direct contact with soil in which they are found.
In fact, cleaning after recovery is often essential.
Just store them in normal mylar / cardboard 2x2's in non PVC album pages. High falutin' storage unnecessary.

The World's leading museums have all coins including ancients, worth $ millions, just sitting in wooden cabinet trays with the coin coins themselves exposed direct to the atmosphere. Generally speaking, they don't keep or display modern proof ecapsulated coins.
