I was trying to figure this out last week and I found this thread very helpful. Check out the second post by joeyuk (the one with the black lines drawn in by hand)
There are two other ways, but not everyone has to resort to them! I use a scope, and camera to project the image onto the TV screen (27"). There I outline one image of the known size. Then compare the coins with the outline. OR, you can sue an overlay, (if you know how to do this, (in any photo app.). I have a vision problem and can't focus, or see directly in front. Just hope that there are two sizes of the date handy. Dick
