Can anyone help me sort out the sources of the rolls of Presidential dollars I see for sale? I see NF String and CWI. Are these repackaged coins or truly BU? If I want truly unsearched coins should I look only for sealed mint boxes? Any help would be appreciated!

There is no such thing as "unsearched" technically. The rolls don't even come from the mint rolled. They are done thru other companies that then deliver them to the banks and other establishments. Rolls from the mint are the best source of "unsearched" but ebay...is not

NF String is a supplier of coin wrapping supplies - both retail and wholesale.
Unless you are buying the rolls directly from the mint or you know they are brand new rolls from the bank there is really no way to know for sure that they have not been searched.
Anyone can buy supplies from NF String or some other company and roll their own dollars coins

Welcome to the forum. Getting Presidential dollar rolls from the bank is probably the most cost effective way of obtaining "unsearched rolls". I have been doing this for the last year and have had moderate success.

I've been collecting coins for years, but recently with the introduction of a totally new series to pursue I've gotten interested rolls. I know the mint sells some coins in rolls, but I also see things on ebay like 'NF String Original Bank Rolls' and 'CWI District #whatever rolls'. It sounds like these have mostly likely been 'skimmed' of any potential treasures and re-rolled? If anyone can suggest any info on collecting/obtaining rolls I'd appreciate it.

I have gotten all my pres rolls straight from my bank. That way you pay no premium for the coins (they cost a dollar a piece) and you can always get out what you put in them

I subscribe to the US Mint Presidential Rolls Program and have left them in their orginal mint wrappers. I have been tempted to break open the rolls with the reported errors but so far I have left them alone. My feeling is, if there ever comes a day when I need to sell them I can honestly say they are unsearched rolls and I will get a better ROI. I also have them stored in tubes to preserve them. I'm not a dealer so I don't collect to make money. I collect coins because I like the hobby.

I have quite a few rolls of the new dollar coins I got from my bank and have not opened them yet. If I was to ever sell them I think I would open them up then to check for errors. If there were not any, that was my gamble. And then I could still put them in 2x2 for high graded coins.

Here is something to think about. IF anyone, anywhere says here is UNSEARCHED rolls, bags, boxes, etc. of coins and they all are xxxx. Guess what? How would they know what they are unless they searched them. Sort of like me telling you I have 5 coins in my pocket and they are all nickels dated 1997 but I never looked at them. How would I know that unless I looked? THINK!

Unless you have access to Mint wrappers you can tell right away if the coin roll wrapper was tampered with. Bank wrappers can easily be had and those rolls can be searched and repackaged leaving no trace of ever being opened. I could be wrong but I feel that you pay a premium for the mint rolls for a reason.
