Kamnaskires Pillar of the Community United States 7066 Posts	Posted 12/07/2015 8:40 pm Interestingly, less than a week ago we had a coin from Selge, Pisidia posted to this board, with a "Bearded bust of Herakles right, club over shoulder" obverse. I am by no means sure, but this coin's obverse does seem like it could match that description too. I am reading the shape at lower left on the obverse as possibly a club. And of course the portrait shows a heavy brow and perhaps a prominent chin/beard. The reverse is too worn for me to see anything. Other areas/cultures besides Pisidia used the same obverse iconography (the Kingdom of Galatia, the Indo-Greeks, etc.), but Pisidia does seem to be more likely since some of their issues were right in the 13mm, 3gm range. This is just speculation, of course. The coin is, after all, REALLY worn. For comparison, some images below. Report this Post to the Staff
