As my collection is now out of control, I can no longer keep small temporary piles on the desktop. Some need to be researched, photographed, de-greened, set to an expert or re-holdered, etc.  |

What ever works .....  For the past year I have been putting overflow coins into USPS flat rate shipping boxes. I tape them up when they are full and start another box. Problem is I am not really sure where all the boxes are.  Don't lose your storage tubs .... |

I use a similar method with two - apart from the size of the containers - main differences: my boxes are store-bought - and they don't stack  |

Like T-BOP said, PVC plastic can really destroy your collection.

Well, it's not like I can find a data sheet for a plastic box to check what it's made of. I already tried. Unless, of course, it's the wrong word in English and that's why I can't find it  Edited by DL20K

I just checked the little recycle triangles on the tub and lid. Both are coded PP 05. I'm guessing that is Polypropylene. It's not real butter, but I eat a lot of pop corn. And I have my friends saving them for me.

First, I am not laughing. Second, you did what I would have suggested, checking the recycle code. Yes, code 5 is polypropylene. Should be totally fine, as long as you cleaned out the "butter" grease.  |

I have seen coins stored in a lot worse. And if you put them in the fridge nobody will ever think to steal them. :)
