I prefer to use mylar flips instead of cardboard 2x2s. I'm thinking of putting a certain part of my collection in a binder with pocket pages. Not really interested in transferring these coins into cardboard 2x2s. Anyone out there do this. How hard is it to get mylar flips in and out of those pockets? Any recommendations on the actual pages? thanks

Are you talking about the 3-ring binder type ? If so , I would imagine it will be a pain in the butt no matter what size flips or pocket pages you use .

I'm going through a collection of the sort you describe. Except that the flips are vinyl based. The come out of the pages easily, so I think mylar would as wel. Still it depends on the dimensions. Wizard can probably tell you more.

Just a thought; don't know how well it would work. Only slide ½ of the flip in a pocket and let the other half hang out in the front. Easier to grab and not as much bulk in the pocket.

Because with the clear flip, you have one half for the coin and the other for the information card. The card offers more real estate for writing than the white space around the coin on a cardboard 2x2. I am not saying it is better, just clarifying what was meant.

Some once asked about the actual sizes of those plastic flips. I have a lot of those so I measured them for exactness. Oddly enough I found I have several different types although all are basically the same, they did differ a bit in size. This means depending on which ones you end up with, some will fit easy into those plastic pages that hold 20 and some will barely fit. If you cut them in half and then put them into those slots, the coins could fall out if turned upside down. Or you could cut the plastic flips in half, place them into the slots upside down. OR just put all your coins in an Album.

I buy my ring binder pages and the saflips from the same supplier and everything fits and works well. I don't have any problems putting the flips in the pages or removing them. I imagine that if you were to use the saflips in a vinyl based page there would be problems with them sticking in the page, I don't know as I have never tried it. For purely aesthetic reasons and probably just because it is what I am used to, I actually prefer the cardboard 2x2's in my albums

I like the idea of leaving half the flip out ...
A interesting idea ...someday I might use that
