Another 2016 maze -

2016 Milestones of Mankind Egyptian Labyrinth Maze $10 Silver Coin Cook Islands
381641775290

"Moreover, each of the 999 boxes also displays a section of this mystical labyrinth, thus transforming each individual box into a unique collector's item. Only if all the boxes were assembled together, would the whole picture and maybe even the legendary treasure be revealed."

That the maze coin is connected to a historic significance is good, but together the 999 boxes reveal some mysterious legendary treasure? I can see it now, not quite Pokemon Go but an jigsaw puzzle type app for the owners of this coin to paste and rearrange the known pieces. Even RCM isn't this gimmicky.

Sadly, I've got to say, the design of the Cooks Islands maze is far better than the one made by the RCM. And it appears the actual maze is far smaller, displaying a more impressive show of quality.
Also, the mintage is only 999, compared to 8,000. I personally like the idea of each of the boxes being different forming a design, even though I think it's fair to say they will never physically be together.
If my entire collection wasn't exclusively RCM NCLTs, I'd probably take this coin in a trade for the RCM maze.

I'd agree, it's overall design of the Cook Island coin highly compliments the maze, as opposed to the odd red maple leaf stuck in the background that has no real connection to it whatsoever. The educational component is entirely lacking, although RCM did include a written blurb about the history of the maze on their feature page.

However for anyone who chooses to collect maze coins, now there are two:-)

Both coins gimmick, both overpriced also.
But in Mongolian coin there is an artwork to pay for.

that's a $115 coin with a $1885 plastic slab holder.
Apparently these maze coins are no longer being graded but that certainly doesn't justify the price tag.

From what I've heard, they don't want to be liable for losing the ball.

Thanks Redzapsid. I wonder if it's possible for the ball to get lost inside of the NGC slab, if the maze was jiggled or turned upside down, if it's not sitting flush to the plastic. I'll resist the temptation to conduct a $2000 experiment. LOL!

With a moving part inside the coin, this may be the only coin that can develop wear after it has been slabbed (ball moving against the backing).

But looks like, the silver ball has been removed, prior slabbing.
