If every Canadian coin auction, with their 50% trend starting price, made it known to us the amount of lots that go truly unsold, we all would think there was no one in the room alive.

Re the 'Toned Coins' auction on Icollector last night, I just clicked on the first 10 to 20 items that were started at over $500 and ALL were NOT SOLD.
Doesn't surprise me one bit.
This is a VERY depressed time right now.
A combination of bad economic times..... and a span of three or four years when we've seen a huge amount of high end quality collections hit the market (oversupply).....and a very rapidly eroding pool of collectors who are willing to spend these kinds of dollars (no demand).

Hi doubleeagle59
Definitely a depressed time, it would be nice if there were more people recognizing the beauty of quality numismatic material...it seems to be a good time for young people to enter the hobby, lots of opportunity for buyer's dollar to stretch farther given the current condition of the market....the question is, where and when will the bottom be reached?

Yes twoods, a good time to enter the market.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any young people who have an interest in collecting, especially those young people who have excess money to spend on this hobby.

Also, happy to add a new dime to my collection, a 1940. The hunt continues to complete the 37 to 52 KIng George set!

On a separate note, is anyone participating in the Torex auction tonight? I need help with figuring out what current market value of the 1938 and 1948 ICCS dimes in MS-66 is...not a whole lot of info. available on these as there are only 3 and 1 listed in the ICCS report respectively...

Hi Silverwolf,
Thanks for the heads up...I do need the 59 in MS-66 for my Elizabeth set...I will keep an eye on it for tomorrow...I haven't heard of the seller before but it seems like a reasonable coin...has anyone had a look at the coin, curious on everyone's thoughts?

Hi Doubleeagle59,
Thanks for mentioning this, I didn't know they had been relisted...lots of nice material there...just a tough time with where the market is at for someone selling, possibly some of the prices need to come down before some deals are struck...in the meantime my search continues if anyone knows of anybody selling 1937 - 1952 ICCS MS-66 dimes or 1953 - 1967 ICCS MS-66 or MS-67 dimes I would appreciate if you would keep me in mind

Also, still looking for opinions of the value of a 1948 dime in ICCS MS-66. Anyone have an idea of fair market value for this coin?

Still no luck in figuring out what a 1948 Canada dime in ICCS MS-66 is worth at current market value...
